Nebbi Area Cooperative Enterprise Ltd
RYEV has also partnered with Nebbi Area Cooperative Enterprise Ltd in training and
skilling the youth in apiculture. The youth have been given free beehives after training and
through this initiative, many youths now make honey, wax candles, and smearing oil
which has a ready market in the region. This has gradually and tremendously improved
the incomes of the youth in the area contributing to the reduction of crime rate and
prostitution in the area.
RYEV also in partnership with Nebbi Area Cooperative Enterprise Ltd managed to lobby
for a brand new Holland tractor from National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) a
government program aimed at empowering and skilling the youth in agriculture to improve
their incomes and livelihoods. This tractor is hired by the youth to plough farmlands
during the planting season at affordable fees equivalent to 20US$ per acre. Fema
youths hire at a discount of 10US$ per acre of land ploughed. This is done to encourage
the young women to be financially independent since most women in this area are t
‘breadwinners’
